DIY Pom Pom Pillow!

I've been working on this project for a little while now and I'm so excited that it's finished.
I was looking for a new DIY project to work on while being home on days I wasn't working. This seemed easy enough to do, time consuming in a non-annoying way, and the end-product obviously super cute and unique! I thrifted the pillow and a few bundles of yarn. I shopped at Michael's for the pom pom makers, more yarn, the hot glue gun and glue sticks. Everything ended up totaling to under $30! *Michael's usually always has a 40% or 50% off coupon for one item at a time!
I'm looking forward to doing a little re-decorating in my dorm to try to make things more organized (and trying to keep it that way lol) and to create an inspiring and upbeat little space, so follow along for more little projects!

𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝒾𝓃𝓈𝓅𝒾𝓇𝒶𝓉𝒾𝑜𝓃:
-a project from A Kailo Chic Life!

𝓌𝒽𝒶𝓉 𝓎𝑜𝓊'𝓁𝓁 𝓃𝑒𝑒𝒹:
-A pillow in any size/shape you wish! I found a nice square, down one at the thrift store and just took off the coral pillowcase on it
-A lot of yarn (I got one of each color, average sized bundles, and 5 small bundles of the navy)
The easiest to use & nicest feeling came from the Vanna's Choice yarns. The tougher & thinner are the Sugar 'n Cream ones (coral, very light pink and some of the cream)
-Scissors (these little kid craft ones worked better than the tiny ones meant for yarn trimming)
-Hot glue gun & glue sticks (you'll need a lot!)

𝒽𝑜𝓌 𝓉𝑜 𝓂𝒶𝓀𝑒 𝒶 𝓅𝑜𝓂:
Because mine is definitely not enough - the best tutorial to use here!
-Wrap multiple layers of yarn around one side of the maker, then close it and go straight to the other side if you are using all the same color(s). For half and half poms just do one side, cut and close, and start the next color on the other side! *Make sure the yarn doesn't go over the little feet!
-Cut down the middle all the way around without letting the maker open up.
-Wrap yarn around the maker (I cross it and double it), pull super tight and double knot. Having it be very tight is super important because the little pieces of yarn can really easily fall or be pulled out.
-Lift up the "feet" as I call them and carefully twist open the two sides of the maker.
-There's your pom! Trim whatever you feel is necessary.

I used almost 60 poms for my pillow. Making them takes a while but can be really relaxing and fun when you get the hang of it and try different color-ways! The perfect activity to do while watching the daily marathons of SVU.

Winning Winter Like An Olsen

Today's style inspiration? Mary-Kate & Ashley in Winning London!
One of my favorite finds for winter is this wool/suede bucket hat. I found it in a little consignment shop with my dad and we both laughed about how I definitely had the same one in baby blue when I was a kid. I had to have it. There's so much I had when I was younger or that my mom used to have that I would love to wear again now, but of course those things are long gone. I put on this hat and immediately felt an Olsen twin vibe; as I did with the pink floral halter dress I thrifted over the summer. I call it the 'MK & A early 2000s' style. I used to be obsessed with them and had all their movies, books, dolls and clothing lines! I'd definitely give some of my fashionista credit to them.
Anyways...I wanted to completely channel the Winning London style with my trench coat, and my striped bell sleeve sweater just kind of fit what I was going for. I love wearing things that remind me of the late 90s/early 2000s fashion, so I was really excited about this look. I will be wearing this cute, comfy and warm hat so much now! The jeans and boots are just what I had left at home, not what I would typically throw on if I was at school with my full wardrobe, but it worked for today.

*Looking like I'm about to help the Olsen twins solve a mystery...*

Fave Winter Trends & Cheap Thrills

Every day I scroll through Pinterest for some new style inspo so I wanted to collect up some of my favorite things I've been seeing lately for the colder weather. A lot of it you can wear to be cozy and comfy, staying warm, but still looking cute which I love!
So here are some of my fave trends this season and what you can buy to get the look on a budget.

The buckled up suede/sherpa coat
Sherpa has really made it this winter, being something that will keep you nice and warm and looking super-trendy! I love my denim coat lines with it but it's a little too cold for that right now. Guess I have to get my hands on one of these coats next!
The Teddy Bear Fur Cardigan
This just looks like the coziest thing to wear lounging around and then right out the door. This comes in multiple colors too like a nice brown, gray, black, and light pink!
Baller Knit Sweater
Pom Poms EVERYWHERE!
Okay, I'm a little obsessed with pom poms lately so obviously I wanted to include the cute pom sweaters I've been seeing (Aerie also has a really fun and cute pom apparel collection right now.)
Sweater Dresses (more fitted or big knits!)

I mean, it's basically just a big cozy sweater you don't have to wear pants with and it makes you look put together at the same time...win!

The Baker Boy / Captain Hat
Ever since Gigi wore one for the first Tommy X Gigi collection, I've been dying for one. I feel like I'll get one soon and wear it into the spring as well! They come in so many colors that work with almost any outfit and unique little details of buttons and braided leather crowns.
The best red sweater for winter. Love the balloon sleeve detail.jeans, red sweater, black boots, blonde hair
Bright Red & Fun Sleeves
It's a double trend hit here. I just got a bright coral/red turtle neck with dolman sleeves and it's one of my favorite things to wear now. I love seeing pops of red in the winter and I've been loving bell and ruffled sleeves since summer!
denim. chunky knit cardigan. fall street style.
Oversized Cardigans

American Eagle has always been my favorite cardigan go-to place. They're just so comfy and such nice knits. Usually the perfect oversized or slouchy fit too. I really want that bell sleeved one!
+ A little over the budget, but I just had to add in Free People one because I love the colors it comes in and the sleeves!

Yarn Ball Chunky Knits?
I really don't know what to call these but I've been seeing them so much; these exact ones!
I love the kind of vintage look they have and of course the hot pink is my favorite. They look so fun to style and definitely perfect for winter!

Daily Makeup & Skincare Faves!

Winter is being not-so-kind to my skin but if I'm being real, my skin has been not-so-kind to me for a while now. I don't have oily or over-dry skin, I just seem to always have annoying breakouts. Probably because I'm not the healthiest eater and couldn't tell you the last time I worked out (new year's resolution?) but I'm trying to figure out what products I love and work well.
This post, I'm going to share my daily makeup essentials and new skincare faves & how they've been working.
But my favorite part of this is my Caboodle that I scored at Marshall's for $7!! I saw it and got so excited, filled with nostalgia, I had to have it. It's perfect when I'm home and all my things were out in a tiny makeup bag or my backpack. Now, everything has a home, kept together, and I can easily move it around to different rooms depending on which has the best natural lighting of course!

How I have it somewhat organized:
Tools & hair ties o the top side compartment, brushes on shelf, everyday necessities top compartment, jetsetter palette & extra stuff (basically just a lot of lipsticks) in the bottom!
My routine:
1. Rimmel BB Cream is my favorite and the best I've tried. It has great coverage but is very lightweight and natural blending. It's pretty scarce or non-existent in stores now though so I'll have to find a new go-to BB cream. Any recommendations?!
2. Touch up spots or under-eye with Maybelline's FIT Me concealer. Also good for simple covering up without needing a BB cream or foundation.
3. Add a little warmth & contour with Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil. I've been using this for two years now. It is such a natural pigment and also smells like chocolate.
4. Fenty highlighter in Starstruck and/or L'Oreal Lumi Powder Illuminator in the cool tones because if you know me, I want my highlighter to be seen from space.
5. The brows! I was introduced to Anastasia BH dip brow (in the shade Blonde) and it's just an everyday essential 100%. I like how you can build it to whatever dark/lightness you're feeling that day.
6. I used to be obsessed with the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara until I just didn't feel like spending that much on mascara anymore so needless to say I was pumped when L'Oreal came out with the Lash Paradise which really does work just as well if not better!
Lastly, the Maybelline X Gigi Hadid Jetsetter Palette is something I just got for Christmas.
What I like about it:  the concealer is pretty good, using the highlighter in very light swatches, using the bronzer even lighter. SO little of the powder because it has such a harsh pigment, but find a consistency you like and it really is a nice contour! Also, I really like the top two eye shadows - the opal shimmer and light mauve.
What I don't really like and hate to say because you know I love Gigi:  it's obviously not the best quality, I feel like it's potentially lower than Maybelline's products alone. I think it really depends on how you use it, I definitely wouldn't make a whole face out of just this. Also, I thought the mascara was going to be a mini version of the Gigi one but its just a random one from Maybelline wrapped in a "Gigi Hadid" paper which was a let down, I haven't even opened that yet.

Now for the skincare products I've been loving...

For breakouts: I'm mad at myself for never trying tea tree oil before now. I'm going to sound like a cheesy commercial but I literally see a difference in my breakouts overnight, if not the next day, and gone in a few days! Another thing I got to try based off of people's reviews using it as a face wash for breakouts is the Beekman lump of kohl detox soap. Beekman is a super natural line made out of goat milk and I have only used it for maybe a week but I do think it will help because of the charcoal, and it feels so nice!

For wash & refresh: My love, Mario Badescu...The set of the 'green' products - aloe, cucumber and green tea. As opposed to pink, yellow, etc. I really want to try EVERYTHING! But this is still for sale at ULTA for only $12. It's the mini versions of the gel cleanser, facial scrub, and spray.
I'm addicted to the rosewater spray so now I like to keep the mini green one in my bag on-the-go. These sprays just make your skin feel refreshed and moisturized as well as giving you an nice glow. I love to spray it like crazy right after I do my makeup!
The gel cleanser is super lightweight which I like but sometimes I feel like I'm not even using anything, but you can totally see how clean your face is after. It also smells so nice and doesn't leave my skin feeling dry. The scrub is the same and I like to use it 3 times a week. Of course, I use one of the sprays right after I wash or scrub my face!
When washing my face, I use the Ponds cream cleanser for my eyes.

Toner: Pixi Beauty Glow Tonic. I try not to use it too much cause it's such a little bottle and I love it so much, but this stuff smells heavenly and gives you a natural glow which I live for!

Now for a funny story...
I once tried the L'Oreal clay mask and always wanted to buy it. I was in Target yesterday and saw what I thought was the pure clay mask in a tube form instead of the pot, so I bought it and got so excited. Put it on today (in these pictures) and thought it was weird that it was kind of foamy and not going on my skin super pigmented like last time (my sister said it looked like dirt). I left it on for who knows how long cause I get distracted and forget I have masks on, wash it off and it's now a soap. I go back and read the back of the tube, yeah it's a clay cleanser that is not meant to me left on your skin dry for that long...
Upset I still don't have the mask but honestly, I think I'll still use this how I did, not leaving it on for as long though, because it still felt refreshed and clean like after a mask!

Shop skincare:
Beekman Lump of Kohl Detox Purifying Bar
L'Oreal Paris Detox & Brighten Pure-Clay Mask (what I thought I was buying)
L'Oreal Paris Detox & Brighten Pure Clay Cleanser (what I actually bought & used)
